On Friday, June 26, the bands Hobluj!, Devles, and Trio Bukaja will perform at La Fabrika.
Hobluj! is a modern Prague boy band with a long-standing tradition of Eastern European music and roots in the Vsetín region. The mix of folk and modern music has recently been experiencing a boom similar to the shady deals during the voucher privatization of the 1990s. The outcome of the evening is just as unclear—will there be scrapes, bites, or a solid dose of fun?
Devles is a seasoned gypsy band that has been active on the music scene for over 10 years. Their regular repertoire includes world folk songs—Romanian, traditional Romani, Serbian, but above all Spanish and Balkan rhythms. Frontman Vladimír Demeter, who has opened for world legends like the Gypsy Kings, sums it up best: “I came up with the name. Devles means ‘divine.’ We’re actually playing for God.”
Trio Bukaja is the big unknown of the entire evening. The only information available online states the following: Vladimír Bukaja’s band is a Prague-based musical group known for its authentic approach to traditional Romani music, in which the accordion playing stands out in particular. The band’s performances in Prague can most often be seen at clubs such as Planeta Za / Ankali (Prague 10). Is this true? Who knows, but on June 26, we’ll find out. Before the summer whirlwind of the festival season begins, the band Hobluj! has decided to throw one last proper goodbye dance party right in the heart of Prague.
