Down by Law

Jim Jarmusch's cult black comedy, set in the American South. A prison cell somewhere in New Orleans is shared by three unlucky men: unemployed DJ Zack (Tom Waits), pimp Jack (John Lurie) and poker player Roberto (Roberto Benigni). In contrast to his gloomy comrades, the latter, a sprightly Italian who can hardly speak English, is full of optimism and hope, although in truth he has no reason to be. And it is he who devises the escape plan that will lead the protagonists across the treacherous Louisiana swamps to an inn lost in their midst.
