TRIBE - afro funk jam sessions vol.3 - hosted by Tariqa (MA/H)

Tavasszal ismét visszatér a TRIBE a Kassa színpadára, ezúttal a Tariqa vendégszereplésével! Az előző két alkalom Nyugat-Afrikai tematikája után most elmozdulunk észak felé, egészen pontosan a marokkói-magyar tengelyre a Tariqa vezetésével, akik egy speciális, csak erre az estre összeállított repetitív gnawa szertartással készülnek.

“Az est középpontjában a marokkói gnawa transzszertartások zenéje áll, amely a hatvanas évek nyugati minimalizmusával, repetitív kompozíciós gyakorlataival és pszichedelikus irányzatainak esztétikájával lép dialógusba. A poliritmiára épülő ismétlés, a fokozatos építkezés és a kollektív transzélmény olyan közös metszéspontot jelentenek, amely túlmutat stiláris párhuzamokon. William S. Burroughs szavaival: a gnawa „a világ legrégebbi, négyezer éves rock’n’rollja”.
Az alapformáció a tizenöt éve gnawa zenét játszó Tariqa, a marokkói Said Tichiti vezetésével. Az együttes repertoárja a vendégművészek közreműködésével kibővített formában szólal meg: a kompozíciók hosszabb, rétegzettebb kibontásban, kísérletező megközelítésben hangzanak el.”

A TRIBE Budapest új közösségi zenei kalandozása a Kassa hajón, egy rendszeresen visszatérő improvizatív est, ahol a város izgalmasabbnál izgalmasabb zenészei lépnek egy színpadra olyan célt kitűzve hogy együtt bontsák le a műfaji határokat és megmutassák, mi történik akkor, amikor különböző zenekarok tagjai egy közös improvizált világban találkoznak, az afrobeat és egyéb világzenék hagyományai mentén.

TRIBE returns to the Kassa stage this spring, this time with a guest appearance by Tariqa! After the West African theme of the previous two events, we are now moving north, more precisely to the Moroccan-Hungarian axis, led by Tariqa, who are preparing a special repetitive gnawa ritual put together just for this evening.

In the words of the band:
“The evening centers on the music of Moroccan Gnawa trance rituals, which enters into dialogue with Western minimalism of the 1960s, its repetitive compositional practices and psychedelic aesthetics. The polyrhythmic repetition, gradual build-up, and collective trance experience represent a common intersection that transcends stylistic parallels. In the words of William S. Burroughs, Gnawa is “the world’s oldest, four-thousand-year-old rock ‘n’ roll.”
The core lineup is Tariqa, which has been playing Gnawa music for fifteen years, led by Moroccan Said Tichiti. The band's repertoire is expanded with the participation of guest artists: the compositions are performed in a longer, more layered arrangement, with an experimental approach.
